I had my second knee replaced by Mr Desai, after a very short wait. Having had a my other knee replaced 18 months earlier and having had quite a traumatic experience I was concerned about the second operation. Mr Desai listened to my concerns and explained what he would do. He also listened to my wife's point of view. The surgery was scheduled for early morning and went ahead as planned. The doctor visited me afterwards and over the weekend following the surgery. He checked I was coping with the physiotherapy and that I was as mobile as expected. He saw me after around six and twelve weeks post surgery and was delighted with my progress. I have just had my annual review and the surgery has been a complete success. I appreciate that I was fortunate to have had my surgery as an NHS patient at The Park Hospital, and I would highly recommend both the surgeon and the hospital.

Mr Desai projects professionalism and competence. He listens to questions and responds with clear answers. His replacement of my hip was first class and he made several followup visits to ensure all was well.

I felt totally at ease as soon as I met Mr. Desai he was extremely knowledgable, friendly, with a lovely sense of humour, without being patronising, which meant I had complete confidence in what he told me. I also felt that what I wanted to know was important to him and he explained the entire procedure about my knee replacement in great detail, as well as suggesting suitable websites for me to refer to. During my stay in hospital I could not praise any of the care I received highly enough, and I was constantly aware that my care mattered, not only to the nursing staff but to Mr. Desai too. When I needed a blood transfusion he came and explained it to me, so I understood what was happening. He also visited me regularly to check on my progress, it was very reassuring to know how much he cared. Every step of the way he was totally brilliant, and if I had been the Queen I could not have asked for better care. I may need my other knee replacing, and if that is the case I would have no qualms at all about asking Mr. Desai to carry out my surgery.

I saw Mr Desai in order to have a right knee replacement, this was following leg ulcers and other circulatory problems. The first thing that I noticed about him was his preparedness to sit and listen to my problems first. Then we discussed the pro's and con's of surgery, he answered all my concerns which was reassuring. We agreed on surgery 24th August 2018. The best thing I have had done in years. Mr Desai is a brilliant surgeon, genuinely interested in his patients welfare. As I write this review 7 weeks since my operation,I am pain free and have 0 to 85 degree flexion, which I have not had in years. Slight swelling around the new knee, but the good news is that I am off painkillers. At my outpatients visit today Mr Desai again listened to my comments, asked meaningful questions and gave very practical tips to help me improve. I consider myself privileged to have had this man operate on me and am eternally grateful for his skill and sincerity.
